“It is often in the darkest skies that we see the brightest stars.”
- Richard Evans

I have written from time to time about some of the people I have met in the ALS community. There are few diseases that take so much from patients and their caregivers. It is indeed in these darkest skies that we see remarkably bright stars. I am writing today to introduce you to one such bright star and her journey. Her name is Constance Griffith and she has founded and runs Gator Ron’s Zesty Sauces and Mixes.

Connie’s husband Ron was diagnosed with ALS in 2007 and he died in 2011. I first met Connie in the spring of 2012. Ron was apparently a fabulous cook and grill master and had created a dazzling array of sauces and mixes that he shared with friends. During his illness, he and Connie decided that as a legacy after he was gone, she would create a business to share and sell these products with a part of the proceeds going to ALS research. I invite you to discover the full story by clicking the link provided above. Through sheer hard work and determination, the business is now up and running and you can purchase the sauces and mixes through the web site. I understand that a national sales effort is also underway and hopefully you will be seeing these (they really are fabulous by all accounts) zesty sauces and mixes in a store near you, wherever you are. The proceeds that go to ALS research are targeted for the Packard Center for ALS research at Johns Hopkins.

ALS is still a story with no happy endings. We are working hard at Neuralstem to try to change this, as are many other people all over the world. Connie Griffith is one such person; and her efforts are well worth supporting, and again I invite you to visit her site and support her products.
